Terms of service
Effective: 17 August 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LeakScan mobile app and website ("LeakScan", "the Service"). LeakScan is operated by LeakScan Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17363486, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ) ("we", "us", "our").
By creating an account or using LeakScan, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. For how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
2. Who can use LeakScan
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. If we discover that an account has been registered by someone under 18, we will suspend or close the account and delete their data.
- LeakScan is provided for use in the United Kingdom. We make no promise that it is appropriate or available elsewhere.
- You are responsible for keeping your account details and password secure, and for all activity under your account.
3. Your account and roles
- One account is for one person. You provide accurate information when registering.
- LeakScan supports different roles (for example, homeowner, tenant, or landlord). One account has one role, which is fixed. If you need to act in more than one capacity, you need a separate account with a separate email address.
- You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms.
4. What LeakScan is — and what it is not
LeakScan uses artificial intelligence to look at a photo you submit and suggest possible causes of a plumbing problem, along with general guidance.
LeakScan is an informational guide only. It is NOT:
- a professional inspection, survey, or diagnosis;
- advice from a qualified plumber, Gas Safe registered engineer, electrician, or structural professional;
- a substitute for having work assessed or carried out by a suitably qualified person.
The AI can be wrong, incomplete, or misidentify a problem from a photo. You must not rely on LeakScan as the sole basis for any decision, repair, or action. Always have anything important checked and carried out by an appropriately qualified professional.
5. Safety — gas and emergencies
Plumbing and heating faults can be dangerous. If you suspect a gas leak or any gas emergency, leave it to the professionals: call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately and follow their advice. Do not use LeakScan to assess a suspected gas leak or any situation posing a risk to life or property — contact the emergency services and a qualified professional. Work on gas appliances must only be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
6. Using the Service properly
You agree that you will:
- use LeakScan only for its intended purpose and in line with the law;
- submit photos that are your own or that you are entitled to submit, and that relate to a genuine plumbing query;
- not misuse the Service — including no attempts to disrupt it, reverse-engineer it, scrape it, resell it, or use it to build a competing product;
- not upload unlawful, harmful, or offensive content, or content containing other people's personal information without a proper basis.
We may limit, suspend, or withdraw access if you break these rules.
7. Photos and your content
- You keep ownership of the photos and information you submit ("Your Content").
- You grant us a limited licence to process Your Content for the purpose of providing the Service to you — that is, to generate the AI guidance and, where you choose, to include it in a report you send. How we handle images is described in the Privacy Policy.
- Where you use a feature that shares a report (for example, sending a diagnosis to your landlord), you are instructing us to share that content with the recipient you specify, and you confirm you are entitled to do so.
8. Landlord and tenant features
Some features let a tenant share a plumbing report with a landlord, or let a landlord and tenant link a property. When you use these features:
- you share only the information you choose to send;
- you are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit and for having the right to contact the person you send it to;
- LeakScan provides the tool for sharing information — it does not make us a party to any tenancy, and we are not responsible for what you or the other party do with the information.
9. Free use and changes to the Service
- LeakScan may offer a number of free analyses and paid or additional features. The current limits are shown in the app and may change.
- We may add, change, or remove features, or stop offering the Service, at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
- We do not promise the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Payments and cancellation. Where LeakScan offers paid features or subscriptions, the specific pricing, billing terms, and cancellation process will be displayed before you pay. If you buy digital content or a digital subscription, you will be told about your statutory right to cancel (the 14-day cooling-off period) and about any waiver of that right if immediate access begins at your request. The full refund terms for any paid feature will be set out in the relevant purchase flow.
10. Our intellectual property
LeakScan, its name, logo, app, website, design, and content (other than Your Content) belong to LeakScan Ltd or our licensors. You may use them only as needed to use the Service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our permission.
11. Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — this includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Your statutory rights as a consumer (including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015) are not affected by these Terms.
Subject to the paragraph above, and because LeakScan is provided as informational guidance only:
- we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on the AI guidance, or from any repair or action you carry out or decide not to carry out;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for business losses;
- we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable at the time you used the Service;
- to the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Where you have paid us for the Service, our total liability to you for any single claim connected with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
You remain responsible for your own decisions and for obtaining appropriate professional advice. Nothing in this section affects your right to bring a claim in the small claims court.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using LeakScan and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if we stop offering the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including sections 4, 5, 10, 11 and 15) continue to apply after your use ends.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will give you reasonable advance notice of any material change — for example, by email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before it takes effect — and will explain what has changed. If you do not accept the updated Terms, you may close your account before the change takes effect. Continuing to use LeakScan after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. The current version is always at leakscan.uk/terms, with the version date shown.
14. Complaints and dispute resolution
If you have a complaint about LeakScan, please contact us first at hello@leakscan.uk — we will try to resolve it promptly. If we cannot resolve your complaint through direct contact, you may be able to use an accredited alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme; we will tell you which scheme is available when we respond to an unresolved complaint. General information about ADR is available at businesscompanion.info.
15. Governing law and contact
- These Terms and any dispute connected with them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. This does not remove any protection the law of your home nation within the UK gives you as a consumer, and your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (and equivalent devolved legislation) are not affected.
